José Malbec-Leighton

Born in Santiago, Chile, and raised in different countries, I have a strong international background and diverse experience in strategic communications, international media relations, and partnerships development.

Today, I am catalyzing change in the climate space as a young leader who embarked on this journey in 2021, joining the World Climate Foundation in Denmark. I am fostering sustainable development initiatives across public and private sectors through impactful collaborations.

In 2023, I joined Verra, where we build standards for activities as diverse as reducing deforestation, to improving agricultural practices, to addressing plastic waste, and to achieving gender equality. Everything we do is in service of increasingly ambitious climate and sustainable development goals – and an accelerated transition to a sustainable future.

I am currently building impactful narratives for innovative and emerging sustainable development programs. My strengths lie in creative strategies that blend advocacy, communication, and innovation to advance climate action. Overall, I am highly committed to raising awareness of the climate crisis and educating a range of different stakeholders.
